7 Ways to Motivate Students-Parent Guide

The reasons students fail to do well in school usually have a lot more to do with motivation than ability. Research shows that motivated children do better in school—not necessarily because they feel they have to be the best, but because they are trying their best. Parents have a large role to play in whether or not their child will be motivated to do his best in school. In the end, it's up to the child—but parents can create an encouraging environment.  Click here to read the Parent Guide from The Parent Institute.  Spanish Version

Give a Book, Take a Book

Give a Book, Take a Book

The Free Book Exchange at

Westside Elementary is still available

for the 2019-2020 school year!

Do you have children’s books sitting around collecting dust?  They are in great condition, bur your child doesn’t read them anymore?  We have a solution!  WES has a , “Give a Book, Take a Book” cart located outside the WES library.  The concept is simple.  Your child can exchange one of their old books for someone else’s old book.  Keep the book forever or read it and exchange it again for another book.  All books should be in good, gently used condition and be appropriate for kids.  Pre-K – 4th graders are encouraged to participate!  Happy Reading!  Contact Mrs. Staggs to donate books or if you have any questions.
